Jefferson City Jaycees Cole County Fair changes theme after community feedback

The Jefferson City Jaycees Board of Directors announced it is no longer using the theme “Making It Great Again” for its 68th annual fair.

In a release, the board said it made the decision to change the theme to “68th Annual Jefferson City Jaycees Cole County Fair” after receiving feedback from the public.

“Thanks to thoughtful feedback we’ve received from members of our community, we now realize that this year’s original theme may have communicated an unintended message of divisiveness – which could not have been further from our actual intention – and that we could have chosen better words to communicate our excitement about this year’s Fair being the best one yet,” said the release.

The board said all references to the original theme were removed from the fair’s Facebook page on June 28. It also said no materials produced for the fair will display that theme.

The Jefferson City Jaycees Cole County Fair begins July 30.
