Hot and humid this week
TONIGHT: Spotty showers and t-storms will end by early evening and we’ll have a quiet, but warm night. Under mostly clear skies temperatures will dip into the low 70s by morning with light winds from the south.
TUESDAY: A Heat Advisory begins at 1 PM for Cooper, Howard, Chariton, Saline and Pettis counties where heat indices will reach 100 to 105 in the afternoon. All of mid-Missouri will be hot and humid with high temperatures in the low to mid 90s and heat indices near or just over 100 in the afternoon under mostly sunny skies. Winds will stay light, shifting from the west to north.
EXTENDED: A weak cold front will drop south Wednesday, bringing temperature and humidity down only slightly with highs in the low 90s and heat indices 98-100. The frontal passage will not bring any rain as we remain dry for the most of the week. Temperatures go back up Thursday, reaching the mid to upper 90s for the rest of the week and into the weekend with heat indices back up to 100-105, with isolated storm chances increasing Friday afternoon. A better chance of storms arrives Saturday afternoon with scattered showers and storms possible. Check back with ABC 17 News for the latest forecast and updates throughout the week.
