Columbia fire crews battle blaze at Worley Street KFC
UPDATE 7/9 – 8:30 A.M.: Investigators said the origin of a restaurant fire was near an electrical service panel on the outside wall of the building.
The Columbia Fire Department responded to the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant at 2004 W. Worley around 8:30 p.m. Sunday night.
The investigators found that a short in the electrical equipment on the outer walls was the cause of the blaze that spread to the inside through a conduit.
It took about 10 minutes to get the flames out, which were showing from the rear corner of the building.
“The fire was also extinguished in the interior walls and attic,” said Battalion Chief Brad Fraizer. “A total of seven fire department units responded.”
Fraizer said no injuries were reported and the damage estimate is around $30,000/
