Off-duty Fulton P.D. officer hurt in fireworks accident

An off-duty Fulton police officer is recovering after he was seriously hurt in a fireworks accident Tuesday night.

According to the Fulton Police Department, Officer Tommy Barker was hurt in the accident while he was with his family.

Chief Steve Myers told ABC 17 News on Wednesday that Officer Barker suffered a serious injury to his hand.

Myers didn’t know what type of firework was involved in the accident.

Barker has been with the police department for more than 10 years and has worked as a field training officer and a tactical team member.

He also held several other roles within the police department.
