Hot and humid through Thursday, relief on the way
TONIGHT: We’ll have another warm, muggy night with temperatures dropping to the mid 70s by morning. Skies remain mostly clear with nearly calm winds. There is a slight rain chance north of HWY 24 in northern Missouri after 3 AM.
THURSDAY: The hot, humid weather continues as we reach the mid 90s in the afternoon under partly cloudy skies. The humidity will make it feel more like 100-104. A cold front will move south from northern Missouri, sparking storms in the afternoon. The best chance of storms is along and north of I-70 with a few drifting south through the evening. Severe storms are unlikely but a few strong storms are possible.
EXTENDED: The cold front heads south Friday morning, with best shower chances south of I-70 from mid-morning Friday through mid-afternoon. Showers and isolated storms will be spotty. It will be cooler Friday, reaching the upper 80s with rain chances ending by late afternoon. Northerly winds behind the front will usher in cooler, drier air which will be here for the weekend, giving us one of the nicest weekends so far this summer. We’ll have abundant sunshine with highs in the mid 80s Saturday and upper 80s Sunday and lower humidity. Nights will be comfortable, dropping to near 60 Saturday night. We’ll start heating up again Monday into the middle of next week as we jump back into the 90s and the humidity climbs. Watch ABC 17 News for the latest forecast and check back here for updates.
