Mizzou softball standout makes history

Mizzou softball standout Regan Nash made history for the St. Joseph Mustangs on Tuesday night. Nash became the first female to ever play for a MINK* League team.

In a release from the team, Nash said, “I want to do this for women’s sports and prove that we exist. I just want them to know that I can do it. College leagues like this don’t exist for women’s sports.”

The incoming MU senior came into the game in the fourth inning to play left field. Nash struck out swinging in her only at-bat, but she had a smile on her face as she walked back to the dugout. Nash also came in later in the game as a pinch-runner.

The St. Joseph Mustangs went on to beat the Ban Johnson All-Star team 6-4.

* MINK stands for Missouri, Illinois, Nebraska and Kansas. The MINK League is a wood bat summer baseball league for college athletes.
