UPDATE: Suspect still on the loose after central Columbia shooting

UPDATE 4:00 p.m.: Columbia Police said they are still investigating the shooting that took place Saturday just before 3 p.m.

Police officials said it was a domestic disturbance between two people and the victim was unharmed.

According to witnesses in the area, the suspect shot at the woman’s car, sat at the deck of a home in tears and was encouraged to turn himself in.

The witness said she knew the suspect for more than twenty years and said it appears the man was crying out for help.

ABC 17 News spoke to many people in the area and many said they heard all the commotion that took place Saturday.

A witness told ABC 17 News the suspect went North on Garth.

UPDATE 7:28 p.m.: Police said a domestic disturbance led to a man firing shots at woman in a parked car.

The woman was not hurt, but officers said they found several shell casings and damage to the vehicle.

UPDATE: Police confirm a shots fired incident in the central Columbia area.

They said it happened between two people who know each other, and that the suspect has fled the scene.

They know who the person is and are actively searching for them.



ORIGINAL STORY: Columbia police are on the scene of a reported shots fired in central Columbia.

Initial reports indicate it happened around 2:45 p.m. near Forest and Grand avenues. They are currently looking for a suspect in the area.
