Large police presence surrounds traffic stop in West Columbia
UPDATE 7/2: 18-year-old Jamel Tacket and 20-year-old Demetrius Young were arrested during the traffic stop.
UPDATE 7:01 P.M.: Columbia police officers have cleared the intersection of Worley Street and Stadium Boulevard.
UPDATE 6:49 P.M.: ABC 17 News crews at the scene saw one of the two vehicles towed away from the intersection.
ORIGINAL: ABC 17 News is working to learn more about a traffic stop and possible investigation in West Columbia on Friday night.
Several viewers contacted the station on Friday about the large police presence at Stadium Boulevard and Worley Street around 6:20 p.m.
Witnesses told ABC 17 News crews they saw at least two people in custody and police officers with guns drawn yelling at another person to get on the ground.
At least five CPD police cruisers were at the scene, as well as a CPD K-9 unit.
ABC 17 News is working to gather new details, including what started this investigation and the names of the possible suspects.
