Heat and humidity returns, late-week storms

TONIGHT: It will be a pleasant and mostly clear night across the region. Lows will bottom out near 70 degrees with easterly winds up to 9 mph.

TUESDAY: It will be more humid and hot as temperatures climb into the lower 90s under partly cloudy skies and south winds up to 10 mph. The humidity will make it feel like 100 during the afternoon. There is an isolated storm chance, mainly east of HWY 63 and near I-44 in the afternoon but most areas will stay dry.

EXTENDED: Independence Day will be hot and humid with high temperatures in the low to mid 90s and heat indices up to 103 in the afternoon. It looks mainly dry with only an isolated storm possible during the late afternoon. For evening fireworks displays, it will be warm with temperatures in the low to mid 80s and light winds under 5 mph. Heading into Thursday, we’ll have a slight storm chance mainly north of I-70 and highs in the lower 90s. A better chance of storms arrives as we head into Friday as a cold front moves through. Morning storms are possible with more storms in the afternoon, shifting south of I-70 through early evening. It will be cooler and drier as we head into the weekend, as highs only top out in the upper 80s with lower humidity.
