Brief relief in store Sunday, More heat builds in this week
*EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING (CHARITON, COOPER, HOWARD, PETTIS, RANDOLPH, & SALINE) UNTIL 7 PM SATURDAY.*
*HEAT ADVISORY ISSUED FOR THE REST OF MID-MISSOURI UNITL 10 PM SATURDAY*
TONIGHT: Warm and muggy will be the story yet again tonight as temperatures slowly but surely settle into the mid-70s. We have a shot at some rain/storms in far northwestern portions of Mid-Missouri, but most of our viewing area will remain dry.
SUNDAY: We’re tracking a cold front on approach tomorrow, with a chance at a few showers or storms around sunrise for our far-western counties. That chance of rain looks to be short lived as much of the data continues to indicated that line of storms drying up as it pushes into Mid-Missouri. A mix of more clouds than sun is in store Sunday and that will help keep our temperatures cooler, in the upper 80s and low 90s. Depending on how much sun we get will determined how early storms begin to fire in the afternoon. The best chance looks to be east of HWY 63, after 3pm tomorrow, marching off to the east.
EXTENDED: Unfortunately that relief looks to be short-lived as we watch the ridge of heat re-establish itself over the Midwest following tomorrow’s cold front. We’ll see ample sunshine starting Monday and lasting through a good portion of the week, including your 4th of July. Thankfully this ridge looks to setup shop further to our west which will put us on the downslope side, while keeping us hot, not quite as hot as what we saw to close out last week.
