An active few days ahead for Mid-Missouri
TODAY: We’re seeing some high level clouds filter into the area this morning. Winds out of the southeast combined with some filtered sunshine will help us warm up a bit more than we did yesterday with afternoon highs will make it into the middle to upper 80s. Storms will increase in coverage from the south as a complex of thunderstorms helps lift moisture northward in the afternoon hours. Best chances for seeing rain this afternoon look to be south of I-70 between 3-7pm.
TONIGHT: Any storms ongoing as the sun sets tonight will begin to taper off, losing the energy needed. But that break will be short-lived as we see another round of storms rolling through Mid-Missouri into the overnight hours. For both of these rounds of storms, we’ll see a marginal risk for severe weather with the biggest threats being damaging winds and some large hail.
EXTENDED: Showers and thunderstorms will be lingering into the early morning hours on Monday as they continues to dissipate. We’ll see redevelopment Monday night as we head into Tuesday as the atmosphere destabilizes in the afternoon. Temperatures will only make it into the middle 80s, as clouds hang on into the afternoon. Tuesday we’ll see the last round of storms as this system finally swings a trailing cold front through the region. Current indications are that we will have more instability available to us Tuesday afternoon, so we’ll need to track the severe threat with this final batch of storms moving through Tuesday evening. By Wednesday, we clear out some of these clouds and turn the heat back on as temperatures warm into the middle 90s, and continue that trend heading into next weekend.
