After a brief reprieve, Summer takes over again by Sunday
TONIGHT: We’ll continue to see clouds slowly clear out into this evening as an exiting upper level low continues to pull into the northeast. Temperatures remain comfortable overnight as we drop down into the middle 60s.
SUNDAY: Although we start the morning out mild, we’re going to watch temperatures warm above average into Sunday afternoon. That’s thanks to a return of southwest winds across Mid-Missouri ushering in temperatures close to 90 for afternoon highs. We’re also tracking the potential for an increase in clouds and the potential for some afternoon thunderstorms developing especially after 3pm. These storms will start in our far southwestern counties and slowly begin to lose steam in the following hours. Best chances for seeing rain tomorrow look to be south if I-70 and west of HWY 63 between 3-7pm.
EXTENDED: More significant chance of rain comes later Sunday as another wave of energy swings around an upper level low situated in the northern plains. Some strong storms could be possible early Monday morning, as a line of these storms pushes into Mid-Missouri. Left over showers & storms look to last through the morning commute as well, so keeping the umbrella handy as you start to plan your work week will be handy. Beyond that, we’re watching more heat and humidity build into the area followed by more rounds of storms, some of which could be strong to severe, especially Tuesday night. It’s something will continue to track over the next several days as data comes to a more consistent consensus.
