Missouri Office of Administration says it won’t pay Greitens’ legal fees

The Missouri Office of Administration said it will not pay the bills submitted by former Governor Eric Greitens’ attorneys, totaling $182,164.35.

ABC 17 News obtained letters sent from the OA’s Office Thursday to Edward Greim and Ross Garber. Commissioner Sarah Steelman wrote the attorneys services did not benefit the Governor’s Office.

“…we have determined that your invoices cannot be certified for payment because available information fails to demonstrate that this expenditure would be within the purpose of the General Assembly’s appropriation,” Steelman said. “It appears that the primary beneficiary of the legal services that your firm rendered was the former governor individually and that the services were not ‘necessary for the efficient conduct’ of the Governor’s Office, which at most received incidental benefits from these services.”
