Dangerous heat & humidity building into Mid-Missouri

TODAY: It’s a fairly comfortable start to your Thursday, with low humidity and temperatures hovering in the 60s. While the morning is starting off pleasant, southerly winds through the day will bring a return to the heat and humidity. Highs today are expected to climb into the lower 90s, with heat indices in the 94-98 degree range. Little relief expected, outside of a chance for some isolated non-severe thunderstorms. Any storms we see will fall apart after sunset.

TONIGHT: Clouds will slowly clear out of Mid-Missouri into the night, with a mild and humid evening expected. Temperatures will bottom out in the lower 70s, with winds out of the south up to 10 mph.

EXTENDED: As an upper level ridge builds over the area and strengthens, it will cause temperatures to rise into the mid 90s for highs starting Friday and lasting through Sunday. With the humid conditions expected, heat indices will likely top out at 100-103 degrees each day. Now is the time to go ahead and make heat preparations if you are going to be outside for extended periods of time, as you will want to watch out for signs of heat exhaustion. We stay dry from Friday and lasting through Sunday, with rain chances looking to increase early next week as we tap into gulf moisture and the upper level ridge weakens slightly.
