One injured after car crashes into work site in south Columbia

UPDATE – 6:10 A.M.: According to a Columbia Fire Department spokesman, a minivan drove through a construction site and crashed into an excavator.

It happened just after 5 a.m. Wednesday in southbound Hwy 63 and Gans Creek.

The spokesperson said MoDOT and the Missouri State Highway Patrol were notified immediately.

A MSHP trooper on scene told ABC 17 News one person was taken to the hospital but would not comment as to injuries if impairment played a factor in the crash.

ABC 17 News will follow up with the patrol and fire department to gather more information.

ORIGINAL: The Columbia Fire Department responded to a vehicle crash in a work site in south Columbia.

It happened just after 5 a.m. Wednesday in southbound Hwy 63 and Gans Creek.

A vehicle crashed into an excavator in the work site.

ABC 17 News is working to find out if anyone was injured and what factors contributed to the crash.
