Very little relief from heat & humidity within next 7 days
SUNDAY : We’ll be looking at another hot and humid day to end the weekend across Mid-Missouri. Temperatures will climb into the mid 90s once again under mostly sunny skies and winds out of the south at 10-13 mph. Heat indices will be in the upper 90s towards 100 so be sure to drink plenty of water and wear light colors.
TONIGHT: It will be a calm and quiet night with temperatures only bottoming out in the low 70s for the start of the work week. Skies will remain clear with a breeze out of the south from 5-10 mph keeping it muggy through the night.
EXTENDED: The work week will start off mild for the morning commute on Monday, with the return of hot & muggy conditions by the afternoon with highs back in the mid 90s and plenty of sun. A cold front will bring some slight relief in terms of heat and humidity, as well as a better chance of storms Monday night into Tuesday morning. Storms ahead of the cold front late Monday will start out strongest to the northwest, but will weaken as they drop south into our area. As the front slides into Mid-Missouri, we will be looking at a slight risk for for severe hail and wind to the northwest, with only a marginal risk of severe weather east of HWY 63. Temperatures will only cool off a few degrees on Tuesday, but humidity will drop more noticeably. Those pleasant conditions will be short-lived, however, as we see more hot and humid weather build into Mid-Missouri by the end of the week. Spotty storm chances look likely into the second half of next week, with the greatest chance of storms overnight. Watch ABC 17 News for the latest forecast and check back here for updates.
