Despite the heat, daily storm chances remain into the weekend

TONIGHT: It will be a mild and humid night across Mid-Missouri, as temperatures bottom out in the upper 60s. Mostly clear skies are expected, however thicker clouds look likely north of Hwy 24 where a few spot storms are possible by daybreak. Overall, it will be a quiet and humid night with winds out of the south up to 8 mph.

THURSDAY: Outside of a few spot storms in northern Mid-Missouri tomorrow morning, it will be a dry commute. Passing clouds will provide some relief from the heat, as highs are expected to top out in the upper 80s and lower 90s. With the dew points on the rise, the afternoon will feel more like the mid-90s as the summer heat continues to build in. Storms look possible into the evening hours after 5 PM, as a complex tracks out of western Missouri. While any storms will be isolated in nature, there will be plenty of fuel to work with. This could lead to a few stronger storms into the evening, capable of producing 60 mph winds and quarter size hail.

EXTENDED: The rest of the week features a wash, rinse, and repeat cycle, as the summertime ridge continues to settle into the region. The only change for each day will be the chance for morning storms, as the lower level jet kicks in each night. The better chance for storms looks to be Friday morning and Saturday morning as the nose of the jet will be near us. While no organized severe storms will occur, the heat could fuel a few stronger storms into Friday. The overall pattern shows a chance of storms each day, with afternoon highs near 90 and overnight lows near 70. Watch ABC 17 News for the latest forecast and check back here for updates.
