Defendant in DeBrodie case bonds out of jail, pleads not guilty

One of the defendants charged in connection to the death of Carl DeBrodie has bonded out of jail.

According to the Callaway County jail, Mary K. Paulo bonded out Wednesday. She’s charged with making a false report of a missing person. Her bond was set at $2,000, cash only.

According to court records, both Mary Paulo and Sherry Paulo have pleaded not guilty. Sherry Paulo, who was the manager of Second Chance Homes, where DeBrodie was living before he died, also waived her arraignment and requested bond to be set. Currently, Sherry Paulo is in the Callaway County jail on no bond.

Furthermore, Sherry Paulo’s lawyer filed a motion for discovery Wednesday. Her lawyer is asking for the names of witnesses, transcripts from grand jury proceedings, any documents the state plans to present as evidence and more.

Similarly, Mary Paulo’s lawyer filed a motion for production. Court documents list 33 different requests for information that the defendant is asking the state to disclose.
