Columbia Police officer injured after suspect vehicle rear-ends patrol car, police say

A Columbia Police officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a suspect rear-ended their patrol car Friday night, police said.

It’s unclear how the incident started, but officers at the scene told ABC 17 News that it happened at Vandiver Drive and Rangeline Street around 11 p.m.

Officers said that after the suspect’s vehicle hit the patrol car, the suspect put the vehicle in reverse and rammed a fence. The officer that was hit called for emergency assistance.

Boone County deputies and Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers assisted police.

Authorities said that after the suspect’s vehicle crashed into the fence, multiple people fled from the car.

Authorities said the suspect was not caught, and the investigation is ongoing.
