Judge orders Greitens team to produce Confide phones, user info

Cole County Judge John Beetem issued an order Thursday for the office of Gov. Eric Greitens to hand over information on its use of the secretive messaging app Confide.

The court supported the data collection as demanded by plaintiff Ben Sansone, of the Sunshine Project, earlier this week.

The order requires the governor’s office hand over the following information:

The names of everyone in the governor’s office, including Greitens himself, who used or downloaded the app The number of phones that downloaded the app associated with each person on the above list The make and model of each phone The phone number of each phone All screen names used by each person.

The order also sets a deadline of 1 p.m. Friday.

Through this court order, the Sunshine Project will be able to ask for documents and information from the Confide company related to those individual in the governor’s office.

All of the governor’s staff and himself have been ordered to preserve information on their personal phones and any phone owned by the state of Missouri.
