St. Louis woman dies in Phelps County crash
A single-car crash at mile marker 170 of I-44 in Phelps County claimed the life of a 31-year-old St. Louis woman Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Shanora Lee was the passenger in a van being driven by 39-year-old Milwin Johnson, also of St. Louis, when the crash occurred.
Troopers said the van veered off the road causing Johnson to overcorrect, and the van to skid across the road and overturn just before 5 p.m. Wednesday.
The flip caused Lee to be ejected from the van before it hit a guardrail.
Johnson received minor injuries in the crash.
Lee was pronounced dead at Phelps County Regional Medical Center about an hour later.
According to the MSHP report, neither Johnson nor Lee were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
