The second week of the Special Session investigating Governor Greitens began today at 10 a.m. questioning a former advisor of the Governor’s campaign, Michael Hafner.

It is the second time the committee called Hafner to the chair to testify.

Representative Jay Barnes questioned Hafner for an hour in details of his job in working for Greitens.

Hafner said that he thought his role would be to help Greitens in the political arena; to help him meet key people.

He says shortly after starting his job, he realized his job role would be to mainly focus on fundraising.

He also confirmed that major donors from the Mission Continues contributed to Governor Greitens campaign.

Representative Gina Mitten joined in, questioning when Greitens started his campaign.

“It appears that Mr. Greitens was engaging in as early as Spring of 2014 in meetings with potential campaign consultants. He was presumably receiving value for those services. He was being advised he should form a campaign committee,” said Mitten.

Governor Greitens did not begin his campaign committee until late February 2015.

Mitten implied that it is against the law to begin receiving contributions without forming a committee.

Mitten also said the committee’s subpoenas have been enforced by Judge Beetem and they expect to receive documents from a New Missouri and Greitens for Missouri by this Friday.
