Warm Memorial Day Weekend Continues

TODAY: We’re looking at a set up for a hot Sunday across Mid-Missouri. Temperatures are starting off in the lower 70s across much of the area heading into the early morning hours. We will warm up quickly as we head into the afternoon hours, topping out in the low 90s in many locations. Factoring in the humidity, it will feel like it is in the middle to upper 90s so make sure to stay hydrated if you’re going to be outdoors this afternoon. With this abundant heat and humidity, we could be looking at another round of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Latest models this morning have trended toward sparking thunderstorm activity east of HWY 63 and they then drift southwest into the evening. With plenty of instability we could be looking at more strong to possibly severe storms with this round as well.

TONIGHT: Any thunderstorm activity that does occur will dissipate after sunset this evening. Leftover cloud cover will be filtering out of the area as temperatures dip to the upper 60s and low 70s.

EXTENDED: Memorial Day looks to be hot and dry as high pressure looks to take a more firm grasp of Mid-Missouri. Without the relief of afternoon thunderstorms activity, we could see temperatures soar into the low to even mid 90s with heat indices pushing 100. We might be getting some relief from what is left from Subtropical Storm Alberto. More cloud cover will be moving into the area and bringing back the chances for more afternoon showers and thunderstorms through much of the work week, with temperatures hovering in the upper 80s for highs. Stay tuned to ABC 17 for the latest updates to the forecast.
