Highway patrol investigating fatal I-70 crash

An early morning crash in the eastbound lanes of I-70 killed one and seriously injured four others. It happened shortly after midnight near the 68 mile marker.

According to online crash reports, Kristen Moore, the 18-year-old driver from Independece, was fatally injured from the crash. Reports show Moore was not wearing a seatbelt.

The four passengers were ejected from the car and were seriously hurt. All five were taken to a hospital after the crash by various agencies..

The car suffered a “possible vehicle defect,” according to State Highway Patrol records, before it skid, traveled off the road and “overturned multiple times.”

This is the 25th fatality reported by Troop A of the highway patrol so far this year.
