Memorial Day weekend kicks off with 7 DWI’s, 1 BWI in mid-Missouri

Online arrest records show seven arrests for driving while intoxicated and 1 arrest for boating while intoxicated.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said it will be on the lookout for aggressive drivers and it has more of a presence on water and land this weekend.

There will be troopers stationed every 20 miles on I-70.
Memorial Day weekend 2017 saw more than 100 people arrested on suspicion while driving while intoxicated.

There were also several deadly crashes across the state 496 people were hurt in 1,122 crashes.

“Last year’s memorial day weekend saw nine fatalities,” Randy Aulbur, Missouri Department of Transportation central district construction and material engineer said. “I can’t say enough about how important it is to stay focused on operating the vehicle.”

Memorial Day weekend is also the unofficial start of boating season.

During Memorial Day weekend last year, there were 15 boat crashes across the state that killed one person and hurt seven people. Two others also drowned.

Troopers also arrested 20 people for boating while intoxicated in 2017.
