Hot, humid weekend with slight storm chances

TONIGHT: It will be another warm, muggy night with lows in the upper 60s. Most areas will stay dry but there is a chance that a decaying batch of storms from Iowa, moving south could reach our northern counties by daybreak.

SATURDAY: There is a chance that we’ll have some light showers early in the morning north of I-70 if overnight storms can hold together. If this happens, some brief light rain is possible but would end by 10 AM. We’ll have mostly sunny skies and a hot, humid day with highs near 90 and heat indices up to 97. Spotty, strong storms are possible in the late afternoon and early evening.

EXTENDED: Saturday night looks dry and warm with lows only dropping to near 70. We’ll have a hot, humid day Sunday and Monday with high temperatures in the low 90s but the humidity will make it feel like the upper 90s. You’ll want to be careful if you are out in this heat and avoid strenuous activities during peak heating and drink plenty of water. The heat continues into next week but will drop slightly due to more clouds and slight storm chances as the upper level ridge weakens slightly.
