Rising temperatures and slight storm chances
TONIGHT: It will be another mild night with lows in the mid 60s under mostly clear skies and easterly winds up to 8 mph. Patchy fog is possible.
WEDNESDAY: After a mild morning, temperatures will quickly heat up, reaching the upper 80s in the afternoon under mostly sunny skies. It will feel a bit humid with the heat index near 90 in the afternoon. Winds will come in from the southeast up to 8 mph.
EXTENDED: Thursday is looking to be on the drier side but we can’t rule out a possible shower or storm during the afternoon, mainly west of HWY 63. However a better chance of rain arrives as we head into the weekend and the upper level ridge begins to break down. As the ridge breaks down a cold front tracking through Mid-Missouri will fire off some showers and storms. While no severe weather is expected right now, we are monitoring the Memorial Day Weekend. It’s possible as we head into next week more rain will filter into southern Missouri, as a system tracks onshore from the Gulf of Mexico. While it’s too early too tell, it’s track, intensity, and organization will all determine if we see widespread rain or not. Outside of the rain, Memorial Day weekend is looking to remain on the toasty side, as highs climb into the upper 80s under a mixture of sun and clouds.
