Rob Sanders says he would not do anything differently if he had the chance
Friday was the final day of a three-day bench trial for former Columbia police officer, Rob Sanders vs. the city of Columbia.
Sanders took the stand Thursday along with other witnesses to discuss exactly what led up to his termination back in August of 2011 when Sanders was terminated for using excessive force against Kenneth Baker in his holding cell.ABC 17 News met up with Sanders after the open court case was over and asked Sanders, if he had the opportunity to do things differently, would he?
“No … I’ve stated numerous times that my primary go-to move in that situation was a leg sweep but because of his proximity to the bed and the toilet, I couldn’t do that so what I went with was the next thing and that was just a push,” Sanders said.
Sanders will have 30 days to file a brief and the city of Columbia will have there 30 days.
After that, Sanders will have an additional 15 days before a judge can render a decision.
