Summer-like air slowly fades, gives way to strong storm potential

TONIGHT: Temperatures will stay on the mild side this evening as we slowly drop back down into the low 70s. We’ll see a steady breeze out of the southwest from 7 to 9 mph.

MONDAY: The start of your work week looks to be another very warm day as temperatures make another run into the upper 80s. We’ll see partly cloudy conditions, but we will continue to see more and more clouds build in as the stationary front that has been holding steady over Iowa and Illinois slowly begins to translate southward. Along that boundary, we could see storms begin to fire off late Monday evening.

EXTENDED: Our best chance of seeing thunderstorms firing off in Mid-Missouri will be between 8pm-2am on Monday night. Right now, the strongest storms look to stay confined to northwestern portions of the viewing area where the biggest threat looks to be damaging winds with a large hail threat. We’ll continue to track this threat as new forecasts pour in over the next 24 hours. Make sure to stick with ABC 17 for the latest updates .
