The vote followed a heated debate and a filibuster from Sen. Maria Chappelle Nadal. The senator started to read from a book on black history when she was later told to stop firing up some lawmakers, including Sen. Rob Schaaf. The senator came to the Chappelle Nadal’s defense stating the senator was being “silenced and it wasn’t right.”
