Osage County man accused of siphoning utilities from neighbor

A 29-year-old Osage County man is in custody accused of stealing electricity from a neighbor.

Deputies were sent to a property on home on County Road 522 Monday to respond to a trespassing call.

Investigators found an extension cord running from a house on the property to a trailer home.

According to deputies, Stephen Mcghghy and his girlfriend had placed the wire in order to siphon electricity from the house to power their motor home.

“Although Mcghghy had previously worked for the homeowners, he and his girlfriend did not have permission to be on the property or plug his motor home up to house,” said Sheriff Mike Bonham. “Deputies call for a wreaker to tow the motor home and while inventorying, the deputies seized crystalline substance, what is consistence with methamphetamine.”

Mcghghy is in the Osage County detention center and is facing possible charges of second-degree burglary, stealing and possession of a controlled substance.
