Lawsuit filed against School of Osage, former teacher after teacher accused of sodomizing student

A lawsuit was filed against the School of Osage and Mark Edwards, a teacher at the School of Osage at the time of the incident, after the teacher was accused of sodomizing a student.

According to a probable cause statement, a student told investigators Edwards touched her inappropriately on two separate occasions in April.

The student said Edwards touched her butt at school during the week of April 9. She also told investigators Edwards placed his hand on her thigh while on a school bus for a field trip on Apr. 17.

A detective with the sheriff’s office looked at the school bus video and saw Edwards sitting next to the student. The detective said the video showed Edwards kissing the student on the head.

During an interview with investigators, Edwards said he rubbed the student’s leg under her clothing and touched her in a sexual manner.

ABC 17 reached out to Grant Boyd, a lawyer on the case, who sent the following statement:

“We look forward to aggressively fighting to be a voice for this victim who was traumatically and viciously sexually assault by a predator within the public school system. The assault and sexual harassment was a malicious and calculated process of a child predator. Parents have a hard enough time convincing their kids there isn’t a monster under their bed, let alone a monster in their own classroom. He used this as a feeding ground for his own sick and twisted sexual fantasies. We believe and have information that this young girl was not the only victim of this predator and we hope other victims and other victims families can find strength to stand up and fight along with others. If anybody or anyone saw any warning signs or know anything to come forward and speak out for a community betrayed by the public school system.”
