Gov. Eric Greitens speaks at memorial for fallen officers

Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens was the keynote speaker at the annual memorial ceremony in Jefferson City for fallen law enforcement officers.

The names of four officers were added to the memorial’s “Wall of Honor” Saturday morning. Two names of officers killed in the line of duty in 2017 along with two from previous years.

The newest names added to the memorial are Carl T. Cosper, of the Barry County Sheriff’s Office; Gary L. Michael, Jr., of the Clinton Police Department; Kevin M. Dziejma, of the Village of Miramiquoa Police Department; and Edward E. Culver, of the Platte County Sheriff’s Office.

Greitens spoke with families of officers at the candlelight vigil Friday evening as well as the the ceremony Saturday morning. He denied ABC 17 News’ request for an interview Saturday

The event was Greitens’ first public appearance since the state legislature voted to call a special session to consider impeaching the governor. It is the first decision of its kind in Missouri’s history.
