Scattered storms likely into the evening hours

TODAY: Lingering showers and t-storms are continuing this afternoon and mainly confined to eastern parts of Mid-Missouri. With clouds still holding steady across the region and temperatures on the cool side, it won’t be as muggy and warm as it was the past few days. This is also decreasing our threat for strong storms as we head into the evening hours. Any showers and storms we see into the early evening will remain below severe criteria and just bring some much needed rain to the region. Temperatures will climb into the mid and upper 70s across the region, with the cooler spots expected in areas that saw the heaviest rain through the night. Winds will remain out of the south up to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25.

TONIGHT: As a frontal boundary tracks through Mid-Missouri into the night, we’ll see another round of showers and storms. While not expected to be widespread, most of the the activity will be along and north of Hwy 24. A slight risk of severe weather is possible, but with current trends in place, it’s likely that any of the storms we do see will remain on the weak side. The best chance for any strong storms will be where the greatest energy is available near the frontal boundary, which is looking to be in extreme northern parts of Mid-Missouri. Rain will exit Mid-Missouri through the early morning hours, with breezy winds staying with us. Winds will be out of the south up to 23 mph and gusting as high as 30 mph. As the front clears the region, we’ll see clouds slowly beginning to break up from the northwest to the southeast.

EXTENDED: After storms move out by Friday morning, we will see a dry day and highs in the upper 70s. As we head into the weekend, we look warm and dry for Saturday with temperatures reaching near 80. A backdoor cold front brings a chance of showers and t-storms Sunday afternoon with high temperatures in the upper 70s to near 80.
