Bridge work on Southbound Route 63 likely to cause significant delays

Drivers on U.S. Route 63 over the Boone Femme Creek should expect delays starting Wednesday morning till mid-June.

Crews are doing substructure repairs underneath the bridge that will cause the highway to be down to one southbound lane.

MoDOT told ABC 17 News delays could range anywhere from 30 minutes on average and up to two hours during peak hours.

The work will first begin in the driving lane. Concrete barriers will be installed across the bridge to divert all southbound traffic into the passing lane until repairs underneath are completed.

Access from Tom Bass Road (Route 63 South Outer Road) to Route 63 south will be closed during the work due to its proximity to the work zone.

The entire project is expected to be completed in early July.

Message boards and signs will direct traffic through the work zone.
