Warm & stormy week ahead

MONDAY: After a mild morning, temperatures will rise to the low 80s, with mostly sunny skies and a stiff southwest breeze. It will be fairly windy today with peak gusts upwards of 30 mph, especially in the afternoon. Other than the wind, we stay dry, and it looks great day to be outdoors.

TONIGHT: With mostly clear skies in place and winds hanging tight out of the south overnight lows only drop towards 60 degrees. Winds will be breezy ranging from 11-15 mph with gusts as high as 25 mph.

EXTENDED: A slow moving system will begin to affect the area beginning Tuesday afternoon, as we have a chance for some isolated storms. Storms on Tuesday look to be mainly north of I-70. We’ll have on and off chances for showers and storms continuing Wednesday through Friday morning, with temperatures holding in the upper 70s. Severe storms on Wednesday look more likely to stay isolated the northwest. There will be plenty of moisture present through the middle of the week as mid-Missouri remains in the warm sector, we are going to see widespread showers and t-storms increase Wednesday into Thursday. As a slow moving cold front progresses into mid-Missouri we are going to see an increasing chance for severe weather in our neck of the woods. By Wednesday night into Thursday, most areas along and west of HWY 63 are under a slight risk for severe weather with our eastern counties limited in a marginal risk. This brings us the risk for damaging winds, as well as large hail. Thursday looks like a very wet day as wide-spread rainfall develops over most of the viewing area with thunderstorms still possible. Luckily, we look to dry out, but slightly cool down for the weekend. Highs Saturday and Sunday will be back in the 70s. Stay tuned to ABC 17 for the latest forecast and updates.
