Special Committee on Oversight releases addendum to original report for Greitens Case

UPDATE: House Minority Whip and Columbia Representative Kip Kendrick (D) said the addendum made him even more concerned over whether or not Greitens is “fit to be the governor and actually lead this state,” but he said it was time to begin impeachment proceedings.

He said not only are lawmakers distracted, but the embattled governor himself is having to focus on the criminal proceedings.

Greitens spent some time on the third floor of the Capitol building visiting with lawmakers Monday. Kendrick said he didn’t know what went on behind closed doors, but assumed that the governor was searching for support ahead of possible impeachment efforts by the House.

“It seems like all of his time right now is being spent trying to manage the public image and do PR moves around this building, we’ve seen him jumping from office to office today,” said Kendrick. “We have concerns about what’s happening and I think it’s just time for the state to move forward [with impeachment proceedings].”

Kendrick said he thinks the committee is doing great work and it’s unfortunate that they have to take their time away from legislation.

“I feel we’ve all suffered from it but they’ve taken this on, it’s a big responsibility, and they’re doing a tremendous amount of work,” he said. “Our state will hopefully be better off in the long run for it.”

ORIGINAL STORY: The Special Committee on Oversight released an addendum to the original report for the invasion of privacy case against Greitens.

The committee deemed the testimony of Greitens’ ex-mistress as credible.

“‘Greitens and his team claimed that the video of the interview ‘undermined the narrative’ and ‘directly contradicted allegations in the House report.’ We took these claims seriously and immediately sought the video interview in question,’ said Barnes, R-Jefferson City. ‘The committee does not find anything in the Circuit Attorney interview that causes it to change its statement regarding Witness 1’s credibility. Greitens’ claims about the content of the Circuit Attorney interview mischaracterize the actual testimony received and reviewed by this committee.'”
