Hundreds of people shred documents at Better Business Bureau Shred Day

Almost 300 people went to the Better Business Bureau’s annual Shred Day on Saturday morning.

Michelle Gleba, regional director for the BBB, said the shred truck was completely filled before the event was scheduled to be finished at noon.

People were able to bring three bags or boxes full of personal and unwanted documents that would be shredded for free.

The event started at 9 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Office Depot. Employees with The Shred Truck said that the truck was halfway full shortly after 10 a.m.

Gleba said the purpose of the event was to help eliminate identity theft by allowing people to shred documents that contained personal or sensitive information.

The Shred Truck takes the shredded paper and recycles it, according to the employees.
