UPDATE: Authorities release the identities of the four children killed in Lake Ozark fire

UPDATE 3:30 pm: Authorities have released the names of the four children killed in the fire.

Firefighters said Tyler Otto, 14, Cason Otto, 8, Max Otto, 5, and Levi Otto, 4, were found dead inside of the house. Authorities confirm all four were brothers.

UPDATE 1:05 pm: A spokesperson for School of the Osage posted on Facebook, “School of the Osage is saddened today about the loss of four of our students in a house fire early this morning. Additional counseling support is available for students impacted.”

UPDATE 12:15 pm: Lake Ozark firefighters released new details about the fire.

Firefighters said when they first responded to the scene, the heat of the fire was so intense it spread to the stairwell of the neighbor’s house.

Neighbors said the resident’s vehicle was not present and suspected nobody to be home. Shortly after, the residents arrived home and said their four children were inside.

Search and rescue began in an attempt to locate the four children. All four were found along with two pets.

The fire remains under investigation.

Firefighters will hold a press conference on the incident at 2:30 p.m.

UPDATE 10:30 am: The American Red Cross of Central and Northern Missouri announced that four children died in the fire.

The organization posted on their Facebook that their “greatest sympathies go out to the family at this tremendously difficult time.”

ORIGINAL POST: The Lake Ozark Fire Protection District confirmed four people are dead after an early morning fire Thursday.

Firefighters were dispatched to to the home just before 1 a.m. off of Carol Road.

First units on scene tried to do a primary search, but were met with “very bad fire conditions” and switched to a defensive attack outside the home, according to Assistant Fire Chief Matt Birdsley.

Birdsley said the names of the people killed in the fire were unavailable immediately.

The house is considered a total loss and the cause is still under investigation.

Osage Beach, Eldon, Rocky Mount, Sunrise Beach and the Missouri State Fire Marshal office assisted in the fire attack.
