Galloway launches audit of Miller County after previous poor rating

Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway announced on Tuesday that she is beginning a regularly scheduled audit of Miller County.

The most recent audit of Miller County was released in November 2014. During the audit, the county received an overall performance rating of poor.

A follow up report was issued by the Auditor’s office in June 2015.

“Audits by my office determine where changes and improvements can be made to better serve taxpayers,” Auditor Galloway said. “I encourage Miller County residents who have information that may be helpful to the audit to contact our Whistleblower Hotline.”

The 2014 audit showed that the county had issues with sales tax procedures, inadequate reviews of the property tax system and financial activities by the county collector, and inadequate procedures within the Sheriff’s and Prosecuting Attorney’s offices.
