Unseasonably cold day, with warming trend through the week
MONDAY: It’s a cold afternoon across Mid-Missouri, as highs will only climb into the 40s through the day. Despite the cold, it will be a nicer day following the bitter cold and snow from Sunday. It will also be a breezy day, as winds will be out of the west/northwest up to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 25-30. This will make it feel more like 30s through the day.
TONIGHT : With clear skies in place prepare for another cold night as lows drop back to freezing. With light winds through the night and clear skies, it’s possible we could even see lower temperatures due to radiational cooling. Patchy frost to a light freeze is expected by morning, so you’ll want to cover any sensitive vegetation/plants.
EXTENDED : After a chilly start to the day, Tuesday looks to be the warmest day this week, with highs in the upper 60s to near 70, before a dry cold front moves through Mid-Missouri. This front will knock temperatures back about 10 degrees for our Wednesday, but much of the moisture with the system will stay to our north. It is possible that areas as far south as Hwy 36 see some light rain, but the bulk of the activity will be in northern Missouri. We’ll hover around the upper 50s to low 60s for the rest of the week with dry conditions before another disturbance affects Mid-Missouri next weekend. As of now, widespread rain looks possible into your weekend with below average temperatures. Stay tuned to ABC 17 for the latest forecast and updates.
