Man arrested for waving gun outside vehicle accused again for unlawful use of weapon

Update 3:32 p.m.: After airing a story on Friday evening regarding an arrest, Target Masters, in Columbia, contacted ABC 17 News and said they had surveillance video of what they claim is the same man pointing a gun in the direction of an employee.

The incident happened on April 4, eight days before Jason Schilke’s arrest.

In the video below, you can see general manager Joe Gilbert on the right with a customer.

“We didn’t know what his intent was,” said Gilbert.

Gilbert said he told the man to put his gun down and according to him, the man complied and said he just wanted a holster for his gun.

ABC 17 News showed the video to Detective Tom O’Sullivan, of the Boone County Sheriff’s Department, who said people have to be responsible gun owners.

“You don’t handle a firearm like it’s a TV remote control or a set of car keys and you have to be aware that any action you may take with a firearm has consequences,” said O’Sullivan.

Original: A man was arrested on Thursday April and charged Friday with unlawful use of a weapon.

Jason Lawrence Schilke is being detained at the Boone County Sheriff’s Department on a $10,000 cash-only bond after he was accused of threatening someone with a gun.

According to a probable cause statement, Schilke has a criminal record.

In November 2017, he was charged with leaving the scene of an accident that caused property damage that cost up to $1,000.

Schilke is scheduled to appear in court May 15.
