Columbia police arrest man after attempted robbery prompts MU alert

Columbia police arrested Jack David, 24, in reference to the attempted armed robbery on Wednesday at Central Bank of Boone County.

ABC 17 previously reported a MU alert was sent out after reports of a robbery at the South Providence Medical Park. Later officers learned the attempted robbery happened at the bank.

The investigation revealed that David and another suspect requested a 17-year-old drive them to the ATM at the bank.

The victim told police that once they were there at the bank, the second suspect pointed a gun at him and demanded all the money in the victim’s account.

The victim drove David and the other suspect to another location and was able to get out of the car. David and the other suspect were then accused of stealing his car.

Officers found the stolen car in southeast Columbia with significant fire damage.

David faces possible charges of robbery, kidnapping, knowingly burning or exploding, property damage, assault, tampering and stealing.

Police said the other suspect has not been arrested at this time.
