Keep the heavy coat handy, bitterly cold Monday morning ahead

TONIGHT : We could be seeing some flurries still hanging around into the evening, as this low pressure system slowly begins to exit the viewing area. The gusty winds that we have had today will stick throughout the night with temperatures dropping into the middle 20s.

MONDAY: Have the winter jacket ready as you head out the door with bitterly cold temperatures to start your day. We will be in the middle 20s with wind chills in the teens, yet another abnormally cold weather pattern for the middle of April. We rebound nicely, the higher sun angle as temperatures will top near 50 degrees tomorrow afternoon. The wind will be pesky throughout the afternoon though, as we remain gusty through 5pm.

EXTENDED : Monday night is cool again, as we drop into the 30s. Tuesday looks to be the warmest day this week, with highs in the upper 60s to near 70, before a dry cold front moves through Mid-Missouri. This front will knock us back about 10 degrees for our Wednesday, but much of the moisture with the system will stay to our north. We’ll hover around the upper 50s to low 60s for the rest of the week before another disturbance affects Mid-Missouri next weekend. Stay tuned to ABC 17 for the latest forecast and updates.
