Two natural cover fires intentionally set in Camdenton

According to a press release from the Mid-County Fire Protection District, MCFPD was called to a natural cover fire on Cross Creek Drive, just off of Highway 54, behind the Camdenton Walmart on April 12 at 7:39 p.m.

The first units on scene found three acres on fire that was rapidly spreading through the top of the pine trees due to the high winds.

Eventually firefighters were able to use water to extinguish the fire and was brought under control in 55 minutes. No structures were damaged and no injuries were reported.

At 10:31 p.m., MCFPD was called to another natural cover fire down Cross Creek Drive. Units found three acres on fire further down the road from the previous natural cover fire.

This fire was also rapidly spreading through the pine trees due to the high winds, according to the press release. Firefighters were able to use water to extinguish the fire and it brought under control in 45 minutes. There were again no damaged structures or injuries.
