Robbery in downtown Columbia prompts MU Alert

UPDATE 4/12: Columbia police said that officers were first dispatched to an alleged personal robbery but later determined it had happened at Central Bank of Boone County.

Police said they are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

UPDATE: According to a second MU Alert, investigators discovered the robbery occurred in downtown Columbia. The victim contacted the police from the medical clinic. The Columbia Police Department is currently investigating.

ORIGINAL: Police are responding after a robbery was reported Wednesday afternoon at South Providence Medical Clinic.

MU Alert sent out a notification just before 5 p.m. saying “Robbery just occurred at South Providence Medical Clinic. Stay away from or leave the area. Police are responding. Update to follow.”
