Columbia police arrest man accused of threatening woman with scissors at Paquin Towers
Columbia police arrested Eddie Crawley on Tuesday after officers were dispatched to Paquin Towers for reports of him threatening a woman.
The female victim told police that a black man with a tan coat and dark pants threatened her with a pair of scissors and told her, “If you say anything to me, I’ll stab you.”
Police said the woman felt scared and thought the man was going to harm her.
Officers said when they arrived on scene they saw the suspect and later identified him as Crawley.
According to the probable cause statement, Crawley did not listen to police and refused to stop walking. He also was accused of resisting arrest and holding the scissors in his hands.
Police said Crawley had a lengthy criminal history and has been arrested and convicted of assault several times.
Officers also said that Crawley is a danger to the community because he lives in the same apartment complex as the victim. He also has access to several people, some of which are diagnosed with physical and mental disabilities.
Crawley was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest.
