Greitens’ Special Investigative Committee extends deadline to May 18
UPDATE 6 pm: Rep. Kip Kendrick said that many people at the capitol are cautiously looking forward to the report.
“I don’t believe they’re going to release any recommendations, I would assume it’s just a fact finding mission at this point,” he said. “We’ll get a report of facts and who knows where we go from there.”
ORIGINAL STORY: The Special Investigative Committee that is investigating Gov. Eric Greitens has extended their deadline to May 18.
House Special Investigative Committee Chair Jay Barnes said on Monday, “Nothing has changed. The committee will release a report this week. The committee will also continue working through the end of session.”
Rep. Gina Mitten spoke with ABC 17 who said while the deadline is extended, the committee will release a report of some kind on April 11.
Mitten also said she voted to extend the meetings because she believes there is more evidence to shift through.
ABC 17 previously reported that the committee was given 40 days to investigate the allegations and issue a report. Monday would have marked the 40-day deadline.
The committee was formed to investigate the allegations that Greitens illegally took a nude or partially nude photo of the woman he had an affair with during his campaign.
