Two Jefferson City teens in serious condition after crashing and going airborne

Two teenagers were taken to the hospital with serious injuries after they crashed in Jefferson City early Saturday morning, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

The report said the 16-year-old female driver was heading south on Engineers Road in a 2017 Ford Mustang when she drove off the left side of the road.

After going off the road, the car went airborne, crossed a creek and hit an embankment, the report said. The car was totaled.

The report said the driver and the 17-year-old female passenger were taken to University Hospital in serious condition.

The report said both women were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.
