MoDOT crews on standby for chance of snow Sunday

A blanket of snow hit Mid-Missouri over Easter Sunday weekend and MoDOT crews and Columbia Public Works are on standby should snow hit Sunday once again.

Jefferson City Public Works Operation Division Director Britt Smith said crews are ready to go should snow come.

“Well, we actually dodged a bullet out here on Easter Sunday but it was right on the cusp … the whole day so we’re hoping it’s even less than that, but the forecast seems that it’s shifted a little bit further north, so we’re hoping that where we’re at will be in pretty good shape,” Smith said.

Smith said if snow does hit the ground Sunday, drivers should be cautious and well prepared if heading out on the road.

According to Smith, drivers just never know what Mother Nature can bring.

“Were going to have our supervising supervisors on standby and they’ll be monitoring the situation and ready to pull our crews in whenever needed. Obviously, we hope we don’t have to get to that, but we are ready if it happens,” Smith said.
